Family Day at Royal Athletic Park
Everyone is invited for a free BC Family Day event at Royal Athletic Park!
Monday, February 21
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Royal Athletic Park, 1014 Caledonia Ave.
There will be a mini-field soccer, bouncy castle, a bocce area, light refreshments planned by the City of Victoria, and base running with Harvey the HarbourCats mascot. And The North Park Neighbourhood Association will be organizing hourly events (see below) that we hope will be fun for the whole family! All events are free. Bring a picnic or enjoy complimentary light refreshments.
10am – Puppy Pageant: dress up your pup in their favourite costumes, and bring them to the park to meet their friends! There will be dog treats from Doodlebug Pet Food for participating pups from 10-11. *all doggos will need to be on a leash*
11am – Drop in craft workshop with SUPPLY Victoria: get creative with an all ages and abilities upcycled craft.
12pm – Live music from the “Big Tree Band with Matt & Bill”: enjoy a family friendly musical performance by local talents Matt and Bill, who definitely didn’t make up their band name just for this event.
1pm – Story Time’s a Drag with the Stashes and Lashes Collective: Sit back and enjoy story hour with Stashes and Lashes, a collective of drag performers in Victoria BC who host queer arts events with a focus on LGBTQ2* kids and youth programming.
A couple of notes:
The active transportation corridor on Vancouver St. provides a convenient route to and from the event for families traveling by bike. Free on-street parking is located along Pembroke Ave. and Cook St. Parking is also available in the Caledonia Ave. parking lot. Entrance is through the main gate on Caledonia Ave.
COVID safety protocols will be in place including handwashing/sanitizing stations, physical distancing guidelines, and a capacity limit of 300 people. Masks are strongly encouraged.
