The Crystal Pool Replacement Project Updates
February 17, 2026
Project Overview
The City is replacing the aging Crystal Pool and Fitness Centre. City of Victoria residents approved borrowing up to $168.9 million to fund the capital costs of the proposed new facility. The North option emerged as the most favored location, receiving over 60% of the votes, and has been selected as the site for the new pool and fitness centre.
Project Update
The City of Victoria reports that the Crystal Pool Replacement Project is now in the planning and design phase. Current work includes finalizing the construction schedule, advancing the latest design stage, procuring a construction manager, and planning recreation programs for the interim facility.
This spring, Council and the public will receive an update on the permanent closure date of the existing pool and a presentation of the new facility’s schematic design, along with upcoming public information sessions.
The City has also secured the interim recreation location at 851 Broughton Street, and upgrades are being prepared so programs can continue once the current facility closes. Details about interim services will be shared once confirmed. The project remains on schedule and on budget.
