The Crystal Pool Replacement Project Updates

Project Overview 

The City is replacing the aging Crystal Pool and Fitness Centre. City of Victoria residents approved borrowing up to $168.9 million to fund the capital costs of the proposed new facility. The North option emerged as the most favored location, receiving over 60% of the votes, and has been selected as the site for the new pool and fitness centre.

Project Update

The City of Victoria has completed early design and technical studies for the new Crystal Pool and is now securing construction management services.

To maintain recreation programming during construction, the City plans to use the YMCA/YWCA building at Quadra and Broughton as an interim facility once the YMCA relocates to the Bay Centre in early 2026. Upgrades will prepare the site for a five-year operating period.

The current Crystal Pool is scheduled to close in fall 2026, coinciding with the opening of the interim facility. Planning for continued recreation services is already underway. For more information, visit the City of Victoria’s website
