banner design competition

Announcing the winner of the banner design competition!

We are so excited to announce that North Park Village is getting brand new banners! Keep an eye out for the banners to be installed any day now on Cook Street at Caledonia Ave and Pandora Ave!

Congratulations to local artist and animator Rachelle Purych for designing the brand new banners! You can learn more about Rachelle and view her animation portfolio here: https://www.rachellepurych.com/

The banners celebrate the playful and edgy animals, trees, architecture that are found right here in North Park. Do you recognize some of the landmarks in the banners? We hope you love them as much as we do!

This project would not have been possible without North Park resident Gail, and the amazing panel of judges who supported this first ever banner design competition! Thank you all for your time, feedback, and support.
This project was funded by a City of Victoria “My Great Neighbourhood Grant”, and the Healthy Communities Initiative. Thank you to both funders!

P.S. Keep an eye on those banners! We’ll be taking turns with our neighbours at the Fernwood Community Association to alternate banner designs in the years to come.

May 2022 update

The banners are just being reviewed by the City, and then they will be printed by the Victoria Flag Shop and installed!

January 2022 update

In January, the NPNA convened a panel of judges to review the designs that were submitted by the deadline. The panel of judges had a tough job, as all of the designs submitted were amazing! After deliberation, the panel made the decision to approach one of the artists, provide feedback, and request that they design two more banners to create a cohesive banner program for North Park Village!
